Update

After putting off the sale of our Countryman I finally decided it was time to sell it on and advertised it on 2 websites.  Within a few hours I'd already had one enquiry and after speaking on the phone we arranged a viewing for the next evening. It was just what he was looking for so, deposit paid & countryman went off to its new home the following weekend! I can honestly say I don't miss it but I do have fond memories of our outings and enjoy looking at the photos of our trips out in it.

We are still dleighted with our caravan and have enjoyed 10 trips so far, mainly weekends but also a couple of 4 night meets and a week long holiday. We've really got into "field meets" (something we'd never have considered in the camper)  with the C&CC and have mets lots of people who are becoming friends. We've also met up with a family who posted on the UKCS forum who were looking for pals to camp with.  They have a daughter the same age as ours and a dog so we have a fair bit in common to get the conversation going and after one get together we are hoping to meet up again very soon.

If we don't get any ice or snow during the coming week we're planning one more weekend away - in Sixpenny Handley - which is a club meet with evening entertainment so looking forward to that especially if our new friends can make it too.

I have a full calendar of possible gatherings ready for next year and can't wait to hitch up & go!!

Magnum 505

We have been out in Elddis Magnum 505 3 times since we picked it up on 8th April.  The first two times we went to a little CS in Selsey where we knew it would be quiet & we could get to know our new-to-us caravan. The third time we ventured out to a C&CC meet in Sixpenny Handley.  We hadn't camped with this group before and were a bit worried that we might not fit in. What a wonderful bunch of people!!  As it was Easter they'd gone all out to provide entertainment for the children & adults so a good time was had by all.

The caravan is everything we hoped it would be and it performed very well. both with EHU and on gas & battery - a good allrounder. We have a slight problem in that we can't find the switch to enable us to cool the fridge in transit & my husband managed to crack the bed board, but these are minor issues and will get sorted out in time.

We are having trouble letting our Countryman go but I'm starting to sell some of the equipment we don't need any more (and getting good prices for them - people always want camping gear!) so hopefully the folding camper will be starting its journey to a new owner soon.

Can't wait to get out there again soon!!

Wednesday 2 March 2011

Well, having been unable to use our Countryman since last September because of the weather, we are now considering buying a caravan.   We don't have a lot of money so we have to be careful that we get the right van for our needs. There's so much choice but I have decided which layout will suit us, but getting one at the right price is proving very difficult.  It seems that the best prices are "up north" which is not a big problem except that if we find any faults with the van then it would be difficult to keep running back to  the dealers
.
Keep fingers crossed that we get what we want!!
